Last Tuesday, I went in to the hospital to have major abdominal surgery and today, Sunday, I am home comfortably watching the Phillies.  I have to admit, the old adage "time flies when you're having fun" was certainly true in this case as I can't even remember Tuesday!  But I am so very, very grateful to all the nurses at the hospital who took wonderful care of me, who held my hand, told me that I'd be OK, and encouraged me to "not do too much!"

It reminded me on a much more personal nature that nursing care in a hospital is THE most important component of a patient's recovery.  Sure, doctors order the drugs, surgeons do the surgery, but nurses care for the patient.  I'm proud to be a nurse and to be a colleague to all the nurses who cared for me.

Thank you for all that you do "in the trenches!!"
