Thanksgiving is right around the corner and that means that there are millions of Americans planning and shopping for their annual holiday dinner. But though the food is part of the event, the holiday is also about saying ‘thanks’ and for (hopefully) appreciating the blessings in your life. Because there are plenty of people who are struggling.

If you’re able to enjoy a home-cooked meal, be thankful. If you’re able to be surrounded by people who love and support you, be thankful. If you are in good health and are not hospitalized, be thankful. If you look forward to Thanksgiving ‘kicking off’ the holiday season, be thankful.

Besides the millions of Americans cooking this Thanksgiving, there are just as many who are in poor health, who are struggling economically and who are alone. Please think of them and consider doing something charitable this holiday.

Guardian Nurses is ‘sponsoring’ 30 Thanksgiving dinners (with all the ‘fixins’) for a local women and children’s shelter. Tomorrow night, we’ll get together to fill the boxes with a frozen turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, string beans, dinner rolls, butter, pumpkin pies, etc. The next morning, we deliver the dinners to the shelter (with some surprises, too!) and leave feeling just a little bit lighter!

Try it. You might like it!

Best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving!
